SMCR Individual Conduct Rules for Certification Function Individuals and General Staff
Description
The Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR) was extended on 9 December 2019 to FCA solo-regulated firms. As a result, financial services employees at most levels are subject to a set of conduct rules (the Conduct Rules). This module provides annual Conduct Rules training to Individuals undertaking Certification Functions and General Staff at FCA solo regulated firms.
The Conduct Rules are intended to improve standards of individual behaviour in financial services from the top-down and the bottom up. By applying the Conduct Rules to a broad range of staff the FCA aims to improve individual accountability and awareness of conduct issues across firms.
The Conduct Rules apply to the majority of employees working in firms, because a broad range of staff has the potential to cause harm.
The Conduct Rules apply to a firm's regulated and unregulated financial services activities
