Market Abuse / MAR (Non-Listed Firms)

Description

This module is aimed at providing Senior Management and Staff at regulated firms in Ireland with an outline of the Market Abuse regime in Ireland. This module is aimed at those firms which have not issued securities which are listed on any exchange or financial instruments that are linked to listed securities.

Learning Objectives

Learners will gain an appreciation for the scope of MAR which established "a new, common regulatory framework on market abuse, as well as measures to prevent market abuse to ensure the integrity of the EU financial markets and enhance investor protection and confidence in those markets"

In particular the module focuses on Learners gaining an understanding of what constitutes:

a.inside information;

b. market manipulation; 

c.unauthorised disclosure of inside information; and

d. suspicious transactions.

and obligations that arise under these headings.

Timing

The duration of this 2 part module is approximately 32 minutes. Each section is followed by a knowledge check and we have allocated 4 minutes to complete these. We have allocated up to 20 minutes for the assessment that follows the completed module.
